Adding new staff to our team is always an exciting process.

We have so many weekly programs that take place each summer, so we usually find ourselves recruiting additional part-time team members this time of year. We are hiring for both a Social Skills Instructor and a Bike Mechanic Instructor! Most of our staff team is cross-trained and able to play both roles in a program, but most new hires step into one role to start off. We can't wait to grow our team by two! Both positions will remain open until filled. Priority will be given to applications received by May 2, 2018. See both job descriptions and applications here:

Ideal Candidates:

  • Have some experience (and enjoy) working with young people ages 6-18
  • Have excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Have experience managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and working under time constraints
  • Are committed to embracing and understanding diversity, inclusion and equity in thoughts, words, and practice
  • Are able to develop strong, positive relationships with youth and teens, parents, and community agencies
  • Have an interest in further developing bike riding and bike mechanic skills
  • Are able to work successfully both independently and collaboratively with a partner

The bottom line is this- we are committed to facilitating empowering youth bike programs in Kalamazoo that help young people become more self-sufficient and successful. If you think you can teach some serious skills, have some serious fun, and be committed to giving time and energy to Open Roads and the students we work with, please submit an application. We are excited to meet you!
